Property Description
The Peninsula Inn & Spa is an 11-room historic inn featuring a fine dining restaurant, elegant cocktail lounge, on-site spa services and function facilities for intimate weddings and gatherings. We are located on the sunny Florida Gulf Coast in the quaint town of Gulfport, just southwest of neighboring St. Petersburg and a short drive from Tampa. The building was originally constructed in 1905 as a hotel and restaurant serving visitors traveling to the waterfront community by streetcar and boat. After many years and various uses, the structure underwent an extensive two-year renovation to return it to its original function and beauty. Fashioned in an elegant British Colonial decor, the newly restored Peninsula Inn & Spa opened its doors in late 2002. The Peninsula brings the exotic flare of Bali to its interior with timeless designs and classic styling of the tropics. Our 11 uniquely appointed guestrooms on the second and third floors feature these authentic furnishings. The first floor is home to three elegant amenities that highlight the Peninsula's rare beauty. Seven Springs Spa, with its spacious treatment rooms and relaxing environs, offers spa services to guests of the inn at reduced prices. A fine dining restaurant, Six Tables, offers a six-course dinner five days a week and is available by reservation only. A full-service bar, The Palm Lounge, opens daily at 5 PM offering an upscale selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers. The Peninsula is the anchor property in the City of Gulfport?s Waterfront Historic District, an eclectic mix of art galleries, shops and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. It's easy to see why Gulfport is quickly becoming known as the "New Key West." As an alternative to the congested venues in neighboring St. Petersburg and across the bay in Tampa, Gulfport offers an "old-Florida" quaintness that attracts visitors from near and far.

    Restaurant Information
On Site Restaurants/Lounges  2 onsite options: 1) Six Tables fine dining restaurant - serves an elegant six-course meal 2) Palm Bar and Terrace - serves upscale cocktails and light appetizers 1) Six Tables fine dining restaurant Reservations required: (727) 346-9800 Open Tuesday through Saturday with one seating at 7 PM Six course meal Prix fixe at $65 excluding wine, tax and gratuity No mandatory dress code, but jackets for gentlemen are recommended About Six Tables Yes, there are literally only six tables in our Dining Room, which makes for the most intimate, personal dining experience available outside your own home. We can accommodate a party of two at a table up to a party of eight at our largest table. For private engagements, the dining room will hold up to 30 guests. What's for Dinner Six Tables does not publish a menu, nor will one be handed to you in the dining room. The evening begins as Chef Tommy Sapp reveals the highlights of his culinary career along with his choices for the evening?s menu. As you enjoy a glass of fine European champagne and an amuse bouche, you will choose from at least four tantalizing entrees embraced within the elaborate six-course meal. Choices vary with chef selection but may include Roast Duckling a la?Orange, Rack of Lamb roasted with Herbs de Province, Poached Salmon with Capers Beurre Blanc, Classic Chateaubriand with Bearnaise, or Roasted Rack of Venison with Green Peppercorn Demi. While Chef Tommy personally prepares your entree to order, you will enjoy one of his famous soups followed by an elegant salad and complemented by freshly baked bread with lavender and a bit of cognac-infused butter. To prepare for the entree course, you will cleanse the pallet with a sorbet, then follow the entree with gourmet cheeses and delectable fresh fruit. Desserts may vary from Belgian cream puffs with Grand Marnier to the Chef's favorite banana bread pudding with Foster sauce. Cocktails, Fine Wines and More Diners customarily arrive about 30 minutes before dinner to enjoy a cocktail in the Palm Lounge, outside on the Palm Terrace deck, or on our spacious Verandah cooled in the summer by elegant tropical fans. Just off the Palm Lounge is the luxuriously appointed Governor?s Room complete with a piano and fireplace. To complement your dinner, Six Tables features a fine wine cellar, the roots of which branch into carefully selected European vineyards. The wine list changes weekly based upon Chef Tommy's selections. What the critics say An evening at Six Tables has been the subject of many accolades. Florida Trend Magazine ranks Six Tables as one of the top restaurants in the state. We were one of 12 Florida restaurants profiled in Gourmet magazine?s October 2002 issue featuring best restaurants in the United States. The renowned Zagat Survey finds the decor and service as ?superior? at Six Tables and rates the food as ?28 or above,? a distinction unsurpassed in the Tampa/St. Petersburg metropolitan area. 2) The Palm Terrace Lounge The Palm Terrace Lounge is a full-service bar featuring upscale cocktails in a smoke-free environment. Enjoy your favorite libation inside the lounge or steps away in the stylish Governor?s room featuring a piano and fireplace. You can also be served outside either under cover on our spacious verandah cooled by elegant, tropical fans or under the stars on the intimate Alcove Deck. The centerpiece of deck is a tropical Mandalay Globe tree, reportedly the largest in the Western Hemisphere. Little is known about the rare Mandalay Globe, which is thought by modern science to be a citrus relative originally found only in its native land. Off Site Restaurants/Lounges  Backfin Blue Café ? We are fortunate to have one of the areas finest casual seafood restaurants right next door. Known to central Florida for his jumbo lump crabcakes and puree of corn and crabmeat chowder, Harold may have to ask you to sit a spell on the front porch until a table clears. (Or you can enjoy a cocktail at The Peninsula while you wait.) Either way, the food is worth the wait! Indoor and outdoor seating. Open Sun noon ? 9pm; Closed Tues; Mon, Wed ? Sat 4 ? 10pm Pier House Grill, Beach Side Grille, Adega Portuguese Cafe all within walking distance. Habana Cafe, featuring authentic cuban cuisine, within 10 blocks.
